ACAT3001 Algorithmic Composition 1

A one-hour seminar each week in Semester 1.
Prerequsite Satisfactory completion of Electroacoustic Composition 2.
Aim To gain a practical understanding of the use of computers for generating musical data at both the micro- and macro-compositional levels.
Content Compositional algorithm design using existing software (e.g. APL/MPL, M, Jam Factory). Markov chains and other stochastic processes.  Group theory.
Assessment Assignments-30%.    Examination performance-70%.
