Graduate Computer Music Practice |

A supervised
practical session of one hour each week throughout the year. |
Aim |
To gain practical
experience in the use of sound studios and personal computers for the
composition and presentation of computer music. |
Content |
Introduction to
sound studio techniques, including microphone techniques, multitrack
recording and basic equalisation and mixing.
Practical exercises in musique concrète techniques.
An introduction to the use of personal computers for music.
Music production techniques, including recording, playback and
synchronisation of music by computer. |
Assessment |
Each semester,
students are required to prepare a major work-a work on tape, a live
computer performance or an interactive environment-for presentation at
the end of the semester. This may be a group piece with other
composers and/or animators.
